During the 2015-16 school year, students in nine Philadelphia K-5 classrooms worked with ArtWell teaching-artists/percussionists over 15 weeks to learn to play traditional West African and Afro-Caribbean songs and discover the power of music in culture and resistance. To culminate the program, each class worked to create their own songs and stories of origin.
